Outside of halting fossil fuel expansion – where they scored a zero, Red Energy performed admirably in every category with numerous tens across the board.

The overall rating given by the Green Energy Guide has Red Energy listed at an above-average score of 6.6 out of 10 and Energy Australia at an abysmal score of 1.35 out of 10.

It’s clear both Energy Australia and Red Energy offer a variety of features, plans, and incentives unique to their brand. From member-only rewards to boosted solar feed-in tariffs, each retailer has its respective advantage over the other in certain categories. When we tally up the winners for each category however, we concluded with a tie.

Red Energy narrowly beat Energy Australia in electricity rates, although both retailers have great plans on offer. Renewables is where Red Energy shined, scoring above-average marks in nearly every category pulled from the Green Electricity Guide. Regarding solar feed-in tariffs, Energy Australia’s high rates across the board gave them the advantage over Red Energy.
