Red Energy vs Energy Australia Renewables

A retailer’s support for renewable energy has become a factor for many when choosing their provider. Many retailers are making a concerted effort to go greener, which is often reflected on their website as selling points for their plans. But transparency goes a long way which is why we pulled data straight from the Green Electricity Guide (GEG) report by GreenPeace and consolidated each metric into a simple table so you get an idea of how each retailer is performing.

Red Energy and Energy Australia scored relatively high in their overall support for renewable energy, with Red Energy scoring a perfect 10 out of 10 and Energy Australia scoring an 8 out of 10.

However, Energy Australia dropped the ball in nearly every other category outside of renewable energy support with multiple zeroes across the board.

Outside of halting fossil fuel expansion – where they scored a zero, Red Energy performed admirably in every category with numerous tens across the board.

The overall rating given by the Green Energy Guide has Red Energy listed at an above-average score of 6.6 out of 10 and Energy Australia at an abysmal score of 1.35 out of 10.
