Does 1st Energy or Energy Australia rank high in renewable energy support? Retailers are transitioning to green energy and promoting their efforts. However, it’s important to see the actual data to see what metrics are used and how well they fared.
Energy Australia and 1st Energy participated in a study that measured their efforts toward sustainability and support for renewable energy. The data shown below was pulled from the Green Electricity Guide (GEG) by Greenpeace.
Energy Australia scored relatively high in its overall support for renewable energy, with an impressive 8 out of 10.
However, outside of their transparency in marketing, this is the only other category Energy Australia had high marks on. They scored zeroes in nearly every other category.
1st Energy on the other hand, scored a perfect ten out of ten in ‘halting fossil fuel expansion’ but scored below average marks in every other category outside of ‘pollution & environmental harm’.
The overall rating given by the Green Energy Guide has Energy Australia listed at an abysmal 1.35 out of 10 and 1st Energy at a subpar 3.54 out of 10.
