Who was OC Energy?
On March 1, 2019, Origin Energy paid $58 million for OC Energy. All OC Energy customers are expected to migrate to Origin Energy’s Centralised Energy Services business. If you're an OC customer, the migration is scheduled to take place in mid-September 2019. If you are interested in finding a sharper rate for your internet or wanted to compare solar quotes, Electricity Monster can help you! Unfortunately, we don’t service embedded networks – yet!
OC Energy specialized in providing embedded electricity for apartment complexes and other multi-unit properties. The advantage that an embedded network has over other offerings is that multiple occupants can combine their bargaining power and negotiate better discounts. Although negotiating may be more difficult on an individual basis, the disadvantage is that tenants in apartments with an embedded network can find it difficult to switch networks. They also managed water heating and HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) systems in the properties it provides embedded electricity.
In addition to embedded electricity, the company also offered gas and internet through subsidiaries. Their green energy initiative, OC Green Energy installs electric vehicle battery charging pumps, solar panels or battery storage systems.
