Electricity Rebates NSW: What You Need To Know

If you’re a New South Wales resident struggling with high power bills, you may be eligible for financial relief through electricity rebates, concessions, and grants.

If you haven't already, it's worth applying for energy rebates in NSW. They can offer incentives like one-off discounts, quarterly payments, and more. Each rebate offers a different type of payment or credit, and if you are eligible, they can provide relief during these times of high energy costs.

It is also recommended to compare electricity plans and providers to ensure you’re on a good rate. If you’re on an outdated plan or a bad rate, you could be paying more for electricity than you should. If you want to switch or compare plans, call Electricity Monster today, as we can analyse your energy usage and offer you various free solutions to help you find a better deal. In certain cases, we can even apply for an electricity rebate on your behalf that you are eligible for.

List of Electricity Rebates in NSW

National Energy Bill Relief Payment

Eligible NSW residents can receive a one-off payment of up to $500 for the financial year of 2023-24.

According to the Australian Government, you are eligible for this rebate if you meet the following requirements:

  • You must be the primary electricity account holder; or
  • A named account holder on your residence’s electricity account.
  • You must have an eligible concession card; or
  • Received an eligible payment from the government in your state or territory.

Each household is eligible to receive one bill relief credit, even if there are multiple eligible residents. The Government has stated that bill relief is only available for your principal place of residence.

If you believe you are eligible and are not named on the bill but pay for electricity, it is recommended to change this through your energy provider to get the bill relief.
