Lumo Energy Electricity Plans

Although Lumo Energy only services the Victoria and South Australia region, they still offer a number of intriguing electricity plans. We’ve broken down each one so you can take an in-depth look at what they each have to offer.

Basic Plan

Lumo’s Basic Plan is generally their flagship offer for households in South Australia. Relative to its name, it’s a simple residential energy plan that, according to Lumo Energy, offers no exit fees or contract terms and gives customers access to the Lumo Rewards program*.

Value Plan

Available only for residents in Victoria, the Lumo Value Plan is similar to the Lumo Basic Plan, but offers customers fixed low rates on a fixed term contract until 31 October 2023*. Customers may also have access to free standard moves for both electricity and gas with no exit fees.

Lumo Plus Plan

Available only for South Australian residents, the Lumo Plus plan mirrors the Basic Plan in a number of ways. However, customers may be eligible for both a pay on time discount and a one-time credit towards their energy bill. Per Lumo Energy, quarterly eBilling and eCommunications come standard in this plan.

Lumo Energy Gas Plans

Lumo Energy retails natural gas in both Victoria and South Australia. Below you’ll find a breakdown of each gas plan currently offered.

Lumo Basic Gas

Lumo’s basic gas plan, customers are subject to natural gas with no exit fees or lock-in contract.

Lumo Value Gas

Available for Victorian residents only, Lumo’s Value Gas plan operates similarly to their Value Electricity plan in that customers can enjoy fixed rates on a fixed term contract.

Lumo Plus Gas

Similar to their Lumo Plus electricity plan, customers may be eligible for credits, incentives, and discounts via their Lumo Rewards shopping program when signing up. There is no contract term or exit fees with this plan, per Lumo Energy. However, quarterly eBilling and eCommunications also come standard.

Does Lumo Energy Offer Solar?

Lumo Energy offers competitively-priced solar feed-in tariffs on their residential and business electricity plans. Eligibility for said feed-in tariffs vary. As stated on Lumo Energy’s website, requirements may include: 

  • A net metered solar system
  • 10kVA or less for a single phase connection; or 30kVA or less for a three phase connection (applicable to customers in South Australia)
  • 100kW or less; and confirmation from your solar distributor that your solar system has been appropriately connected to the distribution system (applicable to customers in Victoria)

It is important to note that these solar feed-in tariffs may include GST. Check with the retailer directly to learn if you are eligible.

How Green is Lumo Energy?

Lumo Energy, along with other Australian energy providers, participated in a study that showcases their efforts towards supporting renewable energy. The data, which is pulled from the Green Electricity Guide by GreenPeace, is categorised from a 0 to 10 scale, with 0 being the lowest. Six different criteria were measured with scores allocated to each, which can be ascertained from the table provided. 

In terms of overall performance, Lumo Energy scored 6.6 out of 10, which lands them in the median range of all energy retailers.
