Millions of Victorians are set to receive some relief, with the State Government announcing a new $100 rebate for concession card holders. Available from 25 August 2025, the payment provides direct support for households in the wake of high living costs. Here’s what you need to know to see if you’re eligible and how to apply.
What is the $100 Power Saving Bonus program?
The Power Saving Bonus is a Victorian Government initiative designed to help ease cost-of-living pressures for households. Eligible concession card holders can receive a one-off $100 payment by applying through the Victorian Energy Compare website.
The program doesn’t just provide financial relief; it also encourages Victorians to compare energy plans and ensure they’re not paying more than they need to.
1Who is Eligible for the Rebate?
Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
|
Victorian Household |
Applicant must live in Victoria. Off-grid households without an account are not eligible. |
|
Card Type |
Valid Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card, or Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card. |
|
Residential Electricity Account |
Current residential energy account must be in the applicant’s name. |
|
Household Limit |
Only one $100 bonus is allowed per household, even if multiple concession card holders live at the same address. |

How Can I Apply?
Visit the Victorian Energy Compare website and follow the application steps.
You’ll need your concession card information, a recent electricity bill (make sure you know your ‘NMI’ number, which is located on your energy bill and is typically a 10 or 11-digit number), and a copy of your identity document (e.g., license, Medicare card or passport).
If online access is an issue, you can apply over the phone via 1800 000 832 or through the Community Outreach Program, which offers in-person assistance across the state.
3When Will I Receive the Payment?
Once your application is approved, the $100 rebate will be paid directly into your nominated bank account.
If you chose to receive your payment via Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT), it should arrive within 2-3 weeks.
Cheque payments may take a little longer, typically 4-6 weeks, but under the same conditions.
4What Happens After I Submit My Application?
Once you submit your application, there will be an official review process. If everything meets the program’s requirements, you’ll receive a confirmation email within about 10 business days.
If there’s missing or incorrect information, you’ll receive an email explaining the issues and outlining the next steps to complete your application.
